One of the most dangerous and poisonous of marine species, this is a Textile Cone Shell (Conus textile) moving across the ocean floor at night on the Twin Rocks shore dive in front of the Planet Dive Resort.
Possessing a set of up to 12 poisonous harpoons or darts, this cone shell hunts other cone shells, sea slugs and various small fish.
The shells of these species are sought after but need to be handled very carefully as this species is known to have killed several people. Experienced scuba divers are more concerned about the danger species such as these cone shells pose than they are sharks.
Image was taken on a night dive in Anilao, Mibini located in the Batangas region of The Philippines.
