A spiky Reef Urchin (Echinometra virdis) sits on a coral reef head on the Souths dive site in the West End in Grand Bahamas. These urchins are easily identified by the purple or brown tipped spines and are quite common on shallow reefs.
Like most urchins, these are alage predators, which they graze on at night.
