A stunning, 1 inch sized Jeweled Urchin (Lytechinus cf. williamsi sits amongst its prey algae on a coral reef at night in the West End of Grand Bahamas. The purple balls are called podia and are stalked, jaw like structures that the urchin uses to ea with.
Species identification tentative as this species has not been previously reported in The Bahamas.
