A pair of Common Lionfish (Pterois volitans) swims next a large coral reef head in the Banda Sea in Indonesia.
Lionfish are strong predators of other fish, however are also the favourite food of several grouper species so are very careful of where they swim. Like most scorpionfish, the first two dorsal spines are the ones that contain venom.
