This is the difficult to identify Black Saddled Sharpnose Puffer or Toby (Canthigaster valentini) swimming over the coral reef head. This fish is mimiced by the Mimic Filefish and the visual differences are very small - the easist identifier is the length of the doral fin which is shorter in the puffer compared to Filefish. In this image this can be clearly seen and the puffer identificiation is easier than normal.
Image taken in the rocky shallows on the shore muck dive at Basura in Anilao, Mibini in the Batangas region of the The Philippines.
