A Broad-Banded Shrimpgoby (Amblyeleotris periophthalma) and a yellow Alpheid Snapping Shrimp (Alpheus ochrostriatus) keeping house in a burrow they have made in the sand.
The Shrimpgoby provides guard duty, while the Shrimp maintains the burrow. The shrimp maintains contact with the goby as much as possible so it can receive an early warning for retreat.
Image taken on the Aphol dive site in Anilao in the Batangas area of The Philippines.
