The common color phase of the Shortfin Lionfish (Dendrochirus brachyptterus) on the rocky shallow seabed on the muck shore dive at Basura in Anilao in the Batangas region of The Philippines where this species is very common locally.
The multiple circular patterns on the pectoral wings and white tipped first dorsal fin are characteristic of this species. This species clearly shows the relationship between Lionfish and Scorpionfish species.
