A Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus vetula) hovers over a fish head bait being used to attract Great White Sharks near Gansbaai, South Africa. These gulls follow the White Shark cage diving boats each day out to Dyer Island and Geyser Rock looking to scavenge the chum and bait that is used to attract the White Sharks.
This species are omnivores like most Larus gulls, and they will scavenge as well as seeking suitable small prey.
