(see this users gallery) A Cape Fur Seal (Arctocephalus pusillus pusillus) with a classically black colored juvenile pup living on the famous 'Seal Island' on Dyer Island off Gansbaai, South Africa. This black fur will slowly turn to the afdult coloration over the first six months of life.
This large population of Seals is one of the reasons for the presence of the Great White Shark in the area who prey on this species.
Although known as a seal, this is actually a sea lion species, as can be identified by the presence of visible ears.
