A group Long beaked Common Dolphins (Delphinus capensis) and Cape Gannets (Morus capensis) attack a Sardine Bait Ball during the famous Sardine Run off the Wild Coast of South Africa near Port St Johns.
Common Dolphins are the primary marine predators during the Sardine Run, and form and maintain the bait balls. Capa Gannets are the primary aerial predator.
The Sardine Run occurs each year, starting as early as June and lasting through August, as millions of tons of sardines migrate up the east coast of South Africa.
