An intermediate Blue Tang (Acanthurus coeruleus) swims over a coral reef at the Aligator Reef dive site off the coast of Key Largo / Tavernier in Florida, USA.
The spine on the base of tail fin is extremely sharp and has been sompared to a scapel, leading to the common surgeonfish name.These common surgeonfish often appear in large aggregations over shallow coral reefs.
