Found under a shallow coral reef ledge, this Caribbean Two-Spot Octopus (Octopus filosusi) is well camouflaged and can generally only be seen if it moves.
The large ocellated spot or ocellus is thought to be a false eye used to confuse prey or predators.
This mottled pattern is not unusual however colors and patternation is extremely variable.
