A Greater Soapfish (Rypticus saponaceus) found in a typical spot - resting on the ocean floor under some coral on the base of a coral wall at the Aligator Reef dive site off the coast of Key Largo / Tavernier in Florida, USA.
The Soapfish is named for the toxic mucus they secrete which is somewhat soap like. These fish are voracious predators at night, with their main prey being small cardinalfish.
