(see this users gallery) A view of Kings Tableland in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. The name Kings Tableland was bestowed on this distinctive geographic area by Governer Macquarie in 1815. This view is from one of the many viewing areas specifically set up for the best viewing of this majestic area.
The Blue Mountains are part of the Great Dividing Range, which is Australia's only substantial mountain range and consists of moderate height mountains in fairly alpine like conditions. It stretches from the northeast tip of Queensland and runs the entire length of the eastern coastline through New South Wales, into Victoria and turning west before finally fading into the central plain at the Grampians in western Victoria.
