Two African Elephants (Loxodonta africana) with their trunks entwined while standing in water in their habitat at the Lion Country Safari Park in Florida, USA.
African elephants were historically found south of the Sahara Desert to the south tip of Africa, from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean. Currently their population is limited to several national parks and game reserves in southern Africa due to poaching, illegal ivory trading and habitat destruction.
