A sea star which has regrown a complete body from a single arm (the largest arm). Sea Stars are all capble of regrowing a complete individual from a single arm. Though this is technically a form of asexual reproduction, sea stars also can reproduce sexually. This particular sea star is probably a colorform of Linkia cf. multifora.
Image taken on the Monique Bommie dive site which is part of the Great Deatched Reef system in far north Queensland in Australia.
Detached Reef's in this remote area are named as they are near - but not directly attached to the Great Barrier Reef system.
