A scuba diver looks at a large Common Lionfish (Pterois volitans) while it swims over a lush, healthy coral reef. Image taken on the reef that surrounds Raine Island in far north Queensland, Australia.
This species is often known as the Red Firefish and occasionally as the Turkeyfish and can be found worldwide in tropical and warm temperate oceans.
Raine Island is famous for the presence of a huge nesting population of Green Turtles, but also is home to a variety of other marine species.
