A Common Lionfish (Pterois volitans) swims over a lush, healthy coral reef that surrounds Raine Island in far north Queensland, Australia.
Raine Island is famous for the presence of a huge nesting population of Green Turtles, but also is home to a variety of other marine species.
This species is often known as the Red Firefish and occasionally as the Turkeyfish and can be found worldwide in tropical and warm temperate oceans.
