A Violet Lined Parrotfish (Scarus globiceps) sleeps at night on a sloping coral reef. As with most parrotfish, at night this parrotfish changes color and protects itself generally with a mucus like covering. This makes actual identification very difficult.
Image taken at night on the Perisher Blue dive site which is part of the Greater Deatched Reef system in far north Queensland in Australia.
Detached Reef's in the area are named as they are near - but not part of - the Great Barrier Reef system.
