A Yellowtail Fangblenny (Meiacanthus atrodorsalis) swims over a coral reef. This species mimics the similar Bicolor Fangblenny, but the blue edged black eye band leading to the dorsal fin identifies the species. Unlike most Fangblennies, this species spends most of its time out of its burrow.
Image taken on the Lagoon Reef dive site which is part of the Southern Small Deatched Reef system in far north Queensland in Australia.
Detached Reef's in the area are named as they are near - but not directly attached to the Great Barrier Reef system.
