Taken on top of a coral reef wall, a large red Sea Whip Corals (Ctenocella sp. / Ellisella sp.) grows out of the lush coral undergrowth. Sea Whips are a form of Sea Fan, but without the interconnecting webbing normall associated with the traditonal form.
Image taken on the Lagoon Reef dive site which is part of the Southern Small Deatched Reef system in far north Queensland in Australia.
Detached Reef's in the area are named as they are near - but not directly attached to the Great Barrier Reef system.
