An Anemone Hermit Crab (Dardanus pedunculatus) moves across a shallow coral reef. This is one of the most widespread of the Hermit Crab species in tropical pacific waters and can be found at night on most coral reefs. Often their shell is covered in Anemones which are used both to hide thier shell, but also as protection.
This speciman was sighted on the "Twin Rocks" shore dive in front of the Planet Dive resort in Anilao in the Batangas region of The Philippines.
