The fish family of Enoplosidae contains only one known member which is endemic to the cold waters of southern Australia. This is an Old Wife (Enoplosus armatus).
These fish are harmless and docile, but need to be treated carefully as their fins are sharp and the dorsal fin spine contains a painful poison.
