Commonly known as the Blue Dragon Nudibranch (Pteraeolidia ianthina), this species is one of the prettiest nudibranchs found worldwide. It is believed that when in the juvenile phase this species feeds on zooanthellae rich hydroids, which it then farms within its body using solar power.
If properly maintained, once it has a full farm it never needs to feed again but rather farms the zooxanthellae. This nudibranch is found across asia pacific, including the colder waters in southern Austrlaia.
This individual was found in the cold waters at the 'Spider Cave' dive site in the Jervis Bay Marine Park in New South Wales, Australia
